Violin Coach Suzanne Cox. Instruments of RighteousnessIn a few words…

I’m Suzanne, a passionate lover of life (including the violin) from the heart of the Willamette Valley in Oregon. Besides playing music, you’ll find me in my vegetable garden, out on a hiking trip, curled up with a cup of coffee (and my cat) browsing Pinterest, or working on a building project with my best friend who also happens to be my husband.

I’m a violin coach providing innovative resources and instruction that inspire passionate students and start-up music teachers to learn and teach LIFE through music with excellence. Read more about my teaching philosophy.

When the music began…

When I was just 5 years old, my parents guided me down a path of music. I’m sure they didn’t expect me to pursue music as a career, but I know they are proud that I have! More importantly, I know they are proud of the opportunity I have to share in the lives of so many individuals on such a personal level.

After establishing a solid foundation in music through piano lessons, I began my violin studies at the age of 14. Five years and 3 private teachers later, I went on to study Music Education at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, WA. During my time at the university, I had the privilege of studying with renowned teachers including Dr. Duane Hulbert, Dr. Jo Nardolillo, and Dr. Maria Sampen.

My Professional Experience

Over the years, I have performed for numerous venues and events, joined forces with multiple Orchestras, and taught music in a variety of settings. I’ve been running my private teaching studio for over 14 years, building it up from scratch in 3 different locations during that time. My students have gone on to win awards, competitions, and pursue music as a lifelong passion and career.

I was hired as a private teacher by Beacocks Music Store, Northwest School of Music, and Violin Tutor Pro. As a substitute teacher, I have taught in other private studios and conducted orchestra classes.

My vision for Instruments of Righteousness

Music is a gift that is meant to be shared. Here on Instruments of Righteousness, I strive to share this gift of music to the best of my ability. When I think back on the strong mentor relationships I had with my music teachers, I am reminded how much value and self-worth each has brought into my life!
